Basta Cosi...

My apologies… A lot to catch up on: Gatti was spectacular. Some of you may remember him from such films as… Sorry, couldn’t resist the Simpson’s reference. Some of you may remember him as the conductor of the Royal Philharmonic who lost it in Naples, FL. (I only read the article in the paper that said something to the effect that he lost it after the concert… He shushed an enthusiastic applause and proceeded to yell at them, which due to his Italian accent (which I hear most women find charming…) seemed rater comedic to his audience. Their laughter prompted him to scream louder.) I can say having met him, I’m not sure I see him doing all that. He’s a rather down to earth guy. I have to admit that after being his assistant, the executive director of our orchestra said that Gatti really thought I did a good job, but I couldn’t tell you that if my life depended on it. I saw him again in Salzburg, and he DID remember me, and he said hello rather warmly, but I didn’t get much of a chance to talk to him. Last Saturday, 6 August, I had the chance to see Nagano’s Concert with the DSO Berlin. It was a good concert. Nagano knows his stuff. That catches us up to today… (Sorry for the fly by catch up.) Today was a rehearsal of Cosi fan Tutte with Adam Fischer and the Vienna Philharmonic. It was interesting. Adam Fischer was interesting to say the least. I look forward to seeing more of him tomorrow.
