Matthias Goerne

So, you are all wondering where I have been? Well, there hasn’t been much going on since I last blogged. (There has, but we don’t get tickets to any of the concerts! Only rehearsals). The problem is that it has been raining like crazy, so I haven’t even been able to explore Salzburg much in this rain. I did get to go to a concert tonight, however. I heard Matthias Goerne sing in the Mozarteum.
Gustav Mahler (1860-1911)
Songs from Des Knaben Wunderhorn
Phantasie
Rheinlegendchen
Verlor'ne Müh
Um schlimme Kinder artig zu machen
Wo die schönen Trompeten blasen
Des Antonius von Padua Fischpredigt
Das irdische Leben
Urlicht
Revelge
Alban Berg (1885-1935)
Four Songs Op. 2
Richard Wagner (1813-1883)
Wesendonck-Lieder
It really was one of the most impressive concerts I saw here. Matthias was kind enough to give me a ticket, and his concert was spectacular. His music making is so natural, and his sense of detail is very great. He really truly knows what he’s doing. If you don’t know his singing, I highly recommend his recordings!
