New Year's Eve!

Posted: 12.31.2005

The last day of 2005!!!!  So I ended up meeting up with my friend, Guy Livingston at the Pompidou Centre.  Guy was one of my first friends in Paris (and was largely responsible for introducing me to most of my other friends in Paris).  Guy now lives in Amsterdam (much to our chagrin in Paris).  Guy is also the world’s expert on the music of American composer, George Antheil.  (Though more than that, Guy is a spectacular pianist.)  We ended up at the Pompidou because Guy and his girlfriend wanted to see the DaDa exhibit.  I have to admit that I was rather reticent, but it was truly wonderful.  I hadn’t known that much about Duchamp, Man Ray, etc.  It was well worth it.  So then, I ended up at Gandhi-Ji’s again for dinner.  They had asked me to come in for New Years, and in the end, they wouldn’t let me pay for dinner!  So, at that point, I was thinking of going home… and another friend of mine, Guy Perier called, so I ended up going out with Guy to a New Year’s party with a record producer and a film director.  Go figure!  So, at midnight, we went out in the courtyard, they popped some champagne, and some fireworks exploded overheard.  I sent a text message…  ha ha.
