Why we love concerts...
Posted: 01.05.2006
Victoria, Victoria, Victoria!!! (A reference to Freischutz). This was really a fun concert. The orchestra was really on this evening. They bought into the Ives and played beautifully. I have to admit being rather nervous… Not for the conducting portion of the concert but for the speaking portion of the concert. James Norman’s piece didn’t arrive, so we weren’t able to do it, so we had a 10 minute gap in the program, so I decided to present the Ives to the public, and I had to do it in French. That was a bit nerve wracking, but that went off without a hitch. I really enjoyed my connection with the orchestra in the concert, and the orchestra was nice enough to applaud me the two times I walked out after the concert. It’s always nice when you have those deeper connections with an orchestra. It’s really inexplicable when it happens, but it’s a wonderful feeling. Tomorrow is back to Paris, and I’ll have a week to study for Midland and to see my friends!
